Unfortunately, they didn't have Battle Royale.
(Storekeeper's response: "It's very violent, and they won't let us stock it. It's explicit." I'm still trying to figure out whether she was trying to get across that it was violent AND sexual, containing explicit scenes between the high school students, something which I wasn't aware of - and qualifies as child pornography, right? - or whether she was trying to get across that the scenes are just explicitly VIOLENT. Anyone who's seen care to give me an answer?)
Nor did they have the Japanese version of Shall We Dance. I know there's an English version coming out, but... I want the Japanese version. That's what I've seen.
~sigh~
Instead, I picked up the first DVD boxed sets of Stellvia, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, and Wolf's Rain, and the second disc of Scryed. My loot from these totals to the soundtracks for Ghost in the Shell: SAC (unfortunately, it does not contain Origa's Inner Universe) and Wolf's Rain (which contains the full version of stray!), and a plush Kiba wolf doll. And, of course, the anime discs. (^^;;)
We also got my ring resized and hit a Barnes and Nobles, where I bought Laurell K. Hamilton's Cerulean Sins, the next book in the Anita Blake series - which is now approaching a train wreck style of quality, and two computer books, Code Complete and the 3D Complete Game Programming Guide. By the way, I highly recommend any of the Microsoft Press books with grey covers (the Best Practices series) to any programmers. This includes Writing Secure Code and Code Complete. They're good books.
Came home, talked to Mom, organized a trip to Israel, started learning Hebrew from another book(Ha-Yesod - the first book I tried (Lessons in Modern Hebrew?) had a tendency to a) have badly placed or missing vowels, b) introduce vocabulary in dialogues or reading exercises WITHOUT vowels and c) focus on too many things at once.), then played more Fable. And watched genedefect play Sims 2. I won't spoil the hilarity until I'm sure he's not going to write about it. |
