I really wish that most of the Japanese PC games I play supported Unicode. Having to change the default system language bites.

Edit: Oh, and the most recent iteration of game I'm playing also has a manifest that states it requires Administrator.

...WHY?

The latest one on which I had to do this reported Vista in the list of supported operating systems.

There is no good excuse.

No, there definitely isn't. As a (sort of) workaround, you could make a second user account and set its language as Japanese, and then use Fast User Switching.

Sadly, that won't work. The default code page is a system-wide setting.

hmm... surprised it ever comes off Japanese mode. Is there some sort of problem with reading all your configs in Japanese? (that, and the yen signs for \'s)

[everything I touch is unicode. or will be shortly. ;-) ]
