| | contemplative | ] | I think I've decided what I'm going to do.
I'll host my own site and post short stories on it with a tip jar. If I get to a certain amount of stories that fit together, I'll produce a compilation and sell that through self-publishing, probably POD. My novels will remain primarily offline, though I may provide excerpts on my site. I'm still not sure if I want to link from my fanfiction site to my original site, though I'm not going to specifically try to hide the fact that I'm the owner of both of them.
Thoughts? I think this pretty much encompasses everything that people have been saying - I know I'm unlikely to make much off of the site, but I don't think I'd make much off short stories anyways, and it preserves the chance to break out in the form of novels. If I do break out in novels, then people will be able to enjoy my short stories as well, for free. It doesn't seem that it would negatively affect my ability to be published (and it might help). |
