New Gears of War Trailer (Scroll down and choose one of the two Cinematic trailers).
"And I find it kind of funny / I find it kind of sad / that the dreams in which I'm dying / are the best I ever had" -- Gary Jules, "Mad World"
I'm impressed by the contrast between the content of the trailer and the music they chose to set it against. And I think that the song is stuck in half the 360's gamers' minds. It's haunting.
Had a bad nightmare last night -- something about a hurricane, and being stuck in a house while the waves kept cresting up a positively Nightmare-Before-Christmas-like set of houses built into a cliff. The most clear image I have of it is the vision of a white cloud spiraling down into the water and turning into the hurricane. I have no idea how I got from where I saw the hurricane to the house.
That's one of the games that makes me think I'm going to have to buy and xBox 360 after all. Good song, too. It is interesting how much more effective that trailer is with that song then with, say, generic metal guitar and gunfire sound effects or whatever.
Yeah. I am a little worried about the hype machine of it, though -- so many people seem to be seeing it as the next Halo, and it could end up crashing because it's good, but it's just not as good as people wanted it to be. (Or, it could just be bad. ^^;;)
On the dream: *comforts, also envy* My nightmares are never that coherent; my dreams in general contain nothing remotely interesting to talk about afterwards, even on the rare occasions I remember them.
On the trailer: Pretty, and nice choice of music. As an AMV, it's extremely good. Didn't pique my interest about the game (which I've never heard of) at all, though, so on the "encourage people to buy the game" front it kind of fails. Then again, I'm pretty advertisement-resistant.
Games I Want For Next-Gen Consoles:
Wii: 1 (Smash Bros. Brawl)
PS3: 0 (Used to be 3, but then they cancelled Xenosaga)
If any of those get up to five, I'll buy it, so as you can see, it's still completely up for grabs what next-gen system(s) I'll get, or if I'll even get one at all.
I've had interesting dreams. Actually, my NaNo comes from one of those dreams, though it's gone from a group of teenagers running through a forest into an actual storyline.
Well, I don't intend to get Gears of War, as Project Sylpheed is my current action game commitment. Of course, if it's any good I can probably vicariously live the storyline through genedefect
