...okay, this bites.
I just reached Halloween Town in Kingdom Hearts, and now my O button no longer works. I can select things on the main menu fine, but as soon as I load my game, that button just stops functioning. The X button and start button and all the rest work. This happens with both of my controllers, so either the game has glitched on me or my PS2 has gone to hell.
...neither of these is acceptable.
All right. I switched out the memory card with a different one that has no KH related saves on it, and tried restarting the game. The O button still does not work. I don't see how the game could have gotten damaged, so my only guess is that the PS2 hardware went south in a minor way related to how it processes the O button and KH is doing custom input processing during gameplay. I'd need either a seperate piece of PS2 hardware or another copy of KH: Final Mix to complete the analysis, but this issue does not repro on Disgaea.
Unfortunately, with the length of RPGs today I'm leery of starting a different one, but I want something game-wise to keep me occupied the few days before [eM] comes out. I was hoping to finish up Kingdom Hearts around when [eM] arrived, jump into that, then pick up Shadow Hearts II afterwards, but looks like that's not happening. Instead, I'll probably pick up GLIII, start it over, and see whether I can finish it. Unlikely, but...
