And we're off. After a rocky start this morning, got 2,013 words done on MiaC, my NaNovel. I'm taking my laptop to work today to write during anime tonight. Hoping to get up to 3,000 today for kick-off day, and also do 1,000+ on Familiar. We'll see how possible this is.

That would be a good pace to keep up - doing 2,000 a day on my NaNovel and 1,000+ on Familiar. Hopefully they won't interfere with each other. If they do, I hope to have the willpower to drop my NaNovel and work solely on Familiar.

We'll see. The effect may be synergistic.

I'm also working on a perl script to anonymize my novel before submitting it for word counting. While I managed to fix it so it isn't adding 6,000 words to my novel (or doubling it!), it's still adding 18. I need to figure out where. Word counting is more difficult than I was expecting.

Wouldn't it be much, much, MUCH easier to just use Word's search-replace to anonymize?

3,000 words a day is pretty steep. Sure, Fred Pohl does (did? Is he still alive?) 4,000 a day, but he doesn't have a day job.

On the other hand, this is you we're talking about. I really don't think you're happy unless you're working at absolute maximum capacity and then some.

Not really, actually. If I only do it once, yes, but a perl script is pretty easy to write, and I'm planning to pass it out to other people when I'm done.

Who, me? ^^ I know it will be difficult, but it's NaNo. It's supposed to be challenging.
