|||||Joker's Theme from Persona II: Innocent Sin||]|
Whoever put kittens on this earth, be it a god(s) or evolution, I am thankful.
That aside... while Persona 2: Innocent Sin is a fascinating game with a much stronger storyline than the original, it's also got bugs. One of the problems with playing Japanese games is that occasionally it seems like the companies decided to release a Beta onto the poor Japanese public, and then after finding all the bugs, they add more stuff and release the English version... then add more stuff and re-release it back to the Japanese.
Most Betas don't cost 7,000yen (~$70) a pop, though.
Of course, I AM playing this on a PS2, instead of the PS1 like it was designed for, so all of these bugs may just be in or driven by the emulation layer.
Anyways, as to the bugs in Innocent Sin, I'll post some pictures (friends only due to identifying information embedded in the image - my reflection) about the joy that I ran across today, where some of the images apparently just decided not to load. Like Maya's head. And none of the text rendered in the menu. And none of the textures were loaded in the Velvet Room. ...anyways. There are also some crashing bugs, where when I try to load the menu or during the start of the battle the game just stops responding.
Growlanser had some of the same problems, also having to do with loading - which does make it more likely it's a PS2 problem.
Yep. "Backwards compatible". These things are why Microsoft is promising that the Xbox 360 will be compatible with "top selling games", because (my conjecture) those are the only things they'll have the man-power to test before release. Now, it's very likely that if the top-selling games work, so will <insert large percentage which is just a swag anyways, like 90%> of the other stuff. Just like the PS2.
As for the story? I do like games when the things the main characters do have consequences, and not in the "Way to Go, Serge" sense. I wouldn't be surprised if we have pulled a "Way to Go, Serge" (or several... yeah, probably several), but I think some of the other side effects the party has been causing were unplanned, and probably making a certain weirdly-dressed oddball laugh his head off.
I kind of wish he'd appear again, not because I especially want to see him, but because the Joker's theme is very, very cool.
